Wardell, 28 January 2024

Wardell Memorial Hall, NSW, Bundjalung Country

Wardell Memorial Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung People.

Wardell is a small village in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales on the banks of the Richmond River. While the hall itself was flooded during the natural disaster of 2022, it has retained its charm and remained as a focal point for the community. After being a critical hub for the community’s recovery effort it has since been repaired and continues to provide space for a range of community health and wellbeing activities.

Festival of Small Halls rolls into Wardell on Sunday, 28 January 2024 with Ryan Young and Alana Wilkinson.

Opening the show will be local act Serendipiti!

Serendipiti, the musical identity of Jess Chate, weaves enchanting indie-folk magic to make sense of the world, singing with an honesty that speaks to our universal humanity and tugs at our heartstrings. Influenced by the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Gordi, and Big Thief, she grew up on Bundjalung land, where she has been a featured artist in the Byron Bay UpNext program. Serendipiti combines heartfelt narratives, intimate vocals and intricate, alternatively tuned guitar backdrops, commanding the stage with an ethereal authenticity. She creates a live space that leaves listeners feeling at home and understood, while she finds the biggest feelings hidden in the smallest moments of life. Serendipiti has graced the stages of the likes of National Folk award winners ‘Saije,’ and is now selling shows out both across her current city Meanjin and interstate. With her debut single gaining airtime on Double J and placing her in the grand finals of the national Listen-up Songwriting Competition, her recent selection as a QUBE Featured Artist, and a debut EP on the way, it is clear Serendipiti is an artist to watch.

There will be cheese platters available on the night as well as beer, wine and soft drinks for purchase.
