Toormina, 5 March 2022

Toormina Community Centre, NSW, Gumbaynggirr Country

Toormina Community Centre stands on the traditional lands of the Gumbaynggirr People.

Toormina is a suburb of Coffs Harbour and is located close to the seaside village of Sawtell. The Toormina Community Centre is nestled in a lovely natural green and leafy setting and has a variety of rooms for hire to cater for a wide variety of events. The suburb’s name ′Toormina′ was inspired by local residents, where they suggested the name ‘Taormina’ based on the famous resort area in Sicily, Italy. However they decided that the name would work better without the ‘a′ and changed the name to ‘Toormina’.
