Talwood, 30 September 2022

Talwood Community Centre, QLD, Bigumbul Country

The Talwood Community Centre stands on the traditional lands of the Gamilaraay people.

The Talwood Community Centre has been the go-to venue for many a shindig since the 1980s. Run by locals, for locals, this is where you come when you’re done with the day’s fishing. This pastoral district, surveyed in the 1860s, became much more prominent within the then Waggamba Shire after the construction of the railway line from Goondiwindi to Dirranbandi. Talwood was established as a service centre and community hub for the surrounding rural properties and remains a major depot for the huge quantities of grain harvested in the local area. Talwood is a highway town that is built on a red ridge! Both Talwood’s history and future are as vibrant as its red dirt!

Festival of Small Halls returns to Talwood on Friday, 30 September 2022 with Karl S. Williams and Catherine MacLellan.

Opening the show will be local act Briella Craig!

Briella Craig, 15 years old, lives in Goondiwindi in regional Queensland. She plays guitar, violin, saxophone and loves to sing and write songs and has just begun her journey of busking. She has a passion for musical theatre and recently played the role of the Genie in the Goondiwindi State High School production of Aladdin Jr. Earlier this year, Briella was lucky enough to support Will Day in his hometown launch concert, this was her first time playing her guitar on stage. She is really looking forward to being the support act for the Small Halls concert in Talwood.
