Sedgwick Public Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung People.
You won’t find a petrol station or a store in Sedgwick, (population 546 and growing), instead you will find just two buildings – a rural fire station and the Sedgwick Public Hall. Built in the late 1950s with money raised by the local community, the Sedgwick Public Hall has been in regular use since for dances, entertainment, and as a meeting place for local community groups including the sporting clubs who use the neighbouring recreation reserve. The community here has been growing and slowly changing over time as farmland is subdivided, giving way to rural residential living. The area is appealing to both young families and retirees who can access the services of nearby Bendigo, whilst discovering and enjoying the goings-on at their local small hall.
Festival of Small Halls returns to Sedgwick on Thursday, 23 March 2023 with Scott Cook and Folk Bitch Trio.
