Russell Island Recreation Hall, QLD, Quandamooka Country Country
Russell Island Recreation Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Quandamooka Country People.
As you disembark at our recently constructed ferry terminal, the Russell Island Recreation Hall will likely be your initial point of interest. In the past, Russell Island played a significant role as a primary provider of fruits and vegetables to Brisbane. Although the farms have disappeared over time, remnants of our prosperous agricultural heritage endure in the form of avocado, mango, lychee, and jackfruit trees scattered across the islands.
Festival of Small Halls returns to Russell Island (Canaipa) on Thursday, 28 September 2023 with Monique Clare and Shane Pendergast.
Opening the show will be local act Amanda & Dean Winchester!
Dean and Amanda Winchester, musical siblings and song writers, form part of the “Dean Winchester & The Supernatural Band.” Dean resides in Brisbane/Meanjin , Amanda on Russell/Canaipa Island, both crafting captivating folk music as a harmonious duo. As a duo their original music sits comfortably in the folk genre.
Meals will be available at the Hall including Mexican, toasties, hotdogs and salad. Bar Service will be available outside the Hall from 6.00pm by the Tide Festival Team and Rosie’s coffee van will be serving coffee & hot drinks.
Graduation Glam will be at the show taking donations on a donation rack.
Graduation Glam is a non for profit group that will take on donations to help out our island families with their children’s formal and graduation attire ranging from clothes to shoes to accessories.
Children and families on the SMBI are welcome to come and view the collection of clothes and accessories while finding their perfect fit for their big day ahead and to keep as their own.
