Ravenshoe Town Hall is 60 years old and is a grand building in the centre of Ravenshoe CBD. Still standing proud after many cyclones in her time and the parties the community have had and still to come, many memories have been made here. The grande dame has hosted a Torimba Ball for 52 years, many a debutante presenting themselves to society and our local theatre group, Ravenshoe Amateur Theatrical Society (RATS) has done many performances over the years. Weddings, hotfires, opera, award evenings, dance and community concerts; the memories are endless. It’s a meeting place for the community to plan our future. She has just been rewired and is ready for an electrifying comeback – don’t miss this grand reopening. She caters for everyone, and includes disability access via a lift. There are plenty of car parks out the back.
Arrive early and enjoy the local area – Ravenshoe is Queensland’s highest town, and gateway to the Savannah Way and the Dinosaur Trail. You can embark on nature walks within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Areas and see rare fauna & flora. There are WWII sites you can visit, as well as our historic train station with the steam train Capella. Here you can play on the train playground, which has a solar powered BBQ to complement our windfarm and hydro scheme south of town – green and clean.
Festival of Small Halls rolls into Ravenshoe Town Hall on Sunday 25th October with one of Australia’s most celebrated singer-songwriters Shellie Morris and critically acclaimed blues and roots duo Hussy Hicks.
