Poowong East Hall, VIC, Bunurong and Gunaikurnai Country

Poowong East Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Bunurong and Gunaikurnai People.

Nestled in the lush, rolling hills of South Gippsland, the Poowong East Hall is a testament to the community’s resilient and pioneering spirit. Built on land that early Danish settlers patiently cleared from dense rainforest, this charming hall echoes with the same sense of purpose that once saw local timber used to build schools and chapels.

While the whistle of the Triholm Railway has faded, the hall remains a bustling station for community connection, continuing the agricultural district’s rich tradition of gathering together. Join your hosts for a night of music in this warm and welcoming space, where the history underfoot is as rich as the dairy pastures that surround it.

Local Knowledge from Your Hosts: Did you know our little hall has a direct connection to the rails? From 1922 to 1941, the area was served by the Triholm Railway Station on the branch line to Strzelecki. While the tracks are gone, the hall stands as a reminder of when the community was connected by steam and steel! To Visit: For a beautiful step back in time, take a short drive to see the Pioneer Chapel. Built in 1878 from locally sawn timber by our first settlers, it was the original school and church for the district and is now lovingly preserved by the historical society. It’s a true hidden gem! To See: Simply enjoy the drive! The journey to Poowong East is part of the experience. Wind your way through the stunning green, rolling hills dotted with contented dairy cows – it’s the picturesque South Gippsland landscape at its very best.

Festival of Small Halls rolls into Poowong East on Saturday, 28 February 2026 with Irish Mythen (CAN/IRE) and Kaurna Cronin.

Her music has been featured on Triple M, ABC Gippsland, Gippsland FM, Avondale Radio Scotland and 3BBRfm, where she has drawn praise for her honest storytelling and effortlessly smooth vocal style. Tegan’s musical journey has taken her from small regional venues to major stages, opening shows for artists including Sara Storer, Jake Whitaker, Ethan Calway and Kris Mizzi. She has become a regular performer at well-loved local events such as Live at the Bundy and Live in the Glen, and each January she travels interstate to the iconic Tamworth Country Music Festival. In 2025, she will join the respected Dag Songwriters Retreat in NSW, where she has had the opportunity to write alongside artists like Ashleigh Dallas, Shane Nicholson and Luke O’Shea—experiences that have helped shape her signature sound.

Driven by a commitment to authenticity and continual growth, Tegan spends nearly every weekend performing at pubs, festivals and community events, building confidence, refining her craft and connecting with audiences through her original material. With a strong support network and a clear artistic vision, she is now working toward the release of her debut EP in 2026 and plans to return to Tamworth each year with even greater determination.
