Deep in the heart of sugar-cane country, about 60kms inland from Mackay, Pinnacle sits amidst lush green hills. While Pinnacle itself might be the perfect setting to break your trip for a famous Pinnacle Pub pie, it’s also a good spot to plan your tour of the towns of the Pioneer Valley. Spaced out like jewels on a necklace – albeit one made of sapphires and emeralds only – the ten rural towns are a stunning area, with rainforest that competes with the hinterland for which can put on the greenest display, while platypus make their way shyly through crystal clear streams and swimming holes. The Pinnacle Playhouse was established in 1972 by the Valley Theatrical Players, who now stage at least 4 shows a year for their community.
