Hollisdale Hall, NSW, Biripai Country

Hollisdale Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Biripai People.
Founded by pioneer settlers in the 1850’s, Pappinbarra is located in a beautiful valley on the Pappinbarra River, with surrounding rainforested gullies providing for a diverse wealth of plants and animals. Originally focused on dairy farming and timber before transitioning to grazing for beef, the town has seen many changes over the years, with the 1970’s seeing a new wave of people moving to the area in pursuit of a life of rural bliss.
Pappinbarra has a strong sense of community harking all the way back to its founding days when the town’s remoteness meant people needed to be able to rely on each other. This community spirit is exemplified in Hollisdale Hall, built and maintained by the Pappinbarra Progress Association. This building boldly stands out against the natural greens of the landscape, in colours of bright red and roasted pumpkin. The hall is the meeting place for community members from surrounding rural properties to gather and celebrate, with the venue playing host to markets, weddings, bush dances and more, as well as being a place of refuge during bush fires and floods.
Festival of Small Halls rolls into Pappinbarra on Saturday, 4 June 2022 with Ash Bell and Sara Tindley and Melanie Horsnell.
