Murtoa, 20 March 2022

Murtoa Mechanics Hall, VIC, Jardwadjali Country

Murtoa Mechanics Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Jardwadjali People.

It might be famous for its Stick Shed, but the wheat district town of Murtoa, 30km from Horsham can be equally proud of its handsome Mechanics’ Hall.

Built in the 1920’s, the wheat and cream hall stands tall over one of the town’s wide streets just off the main thoroughfare, and its interior is just as impressive.

A beautiful example of an historical theatre/dance hall with a large raised stage and heavy crimson curtains, the Mechanics Hall is a great space for weddings and formal occasions as well as a good old-fashioned knees up – there’s plenty of room here for dancing with wild abandon!

Festival of Small Halls returns to Murtoa on Sunday, 20 March 2022 with Jack Carty and Charm of Finches.
