Mooloolah Valley, 20 October 2023

Mooloolah Public Hall, QLD, Kabi Kabi Country

Mooloolah Public Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Kabi Kabi People.

The Mooloolah Public Hall has been community owned since it was first built 118 years ago and is thought to be the oldest community hall on the Sunshine Coast. The Hall was officially opened with a dance back in 1905 and the dancing will continue in 2023. The name ‘Mooloolah’ comes from the local Kabi language and means ‘place of black snakes’. Like a black snake, the Mooloolah River winds its way around the coast from Mooloolah Valley, making its way to the sea at Mooloolaba.

Festival of Small Halls rolls into Mooloolah Valley on Friday, 20 October 2023 with Monique Clare and Shane Pendergast.

Opening the show will be local act Anjali Leonard!
Anjali Leonard is a Sunshine Coast based folk singing-songwriting chanteuse originally hailing from regional Victoria. A newcomer to the scene, she has recently been wowing audiences in both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, gaining attention from well respected musicians in the area. Her voice has been compared to Joan Baez and Vashti Bunyan, and her music is flavoured with elements of traditional folk and folk revival, Celtic, and a little bit of country. The pure, mellow tone of her voice invites the audience into a space where the weary mind is both soothed and delighted.

A sausage sizzle and snacks will be available on the evening, as well as a bar with beer and wine.
