Ironpot Farmers Hall, QLD, Auburn Hawkwood Country

Ironpot Farmers Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Auburn Hawkwood People.

Ironpot Hall is the structure that forms the hub of the Ironpot Community. The building is nothing fancy but it represents near 90 years of community connectedness. Ironpot is a tiny community of 44 people however if you take in all the surrounding communities we start punching above our weight with 308 big hearted locals who pull together through droughts and floods to get things done.

Historically, Ironpot was a thriving district with a school and many families. Originally formed around the dairy industry the undulating hills of rich soil provided a simple life for many families. More recently the dairy farms have given way to the beef cattle industry and crop farming. And who would have known it back then – there’s enough of a breeze to build south east QLD’s largest wind farm ‘Coopers Gap’.

There are 360 degree majestic views of Boomerang Mountain, Bunya Mountains, Piper Dodge Mountain Range and Mount Mahen and Ironpot sits on the Watershed of the Great Dividing Range. We also boast a few kilometers of the iconic Dingo Fence built through the 1930/40s and announced as one of Queensland’s Q150 Icons in 2009.

Population: 44
