Greymare Hall, QLD, Githabul Country

Greymare Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Githabul People.

Greymare Hall was established in 1936 – an authentic country hall set in the heart of a community steeped in history. In the early days of European settlement, a hotel, cheese factory, sale yards, sports ground and rail siding was the lifeblood of the district. And aren’t you desperate to know why it was called Greymare? The town was named after a grey mare which belonged to pastoralist John Deuchar. The horse would escape from any paddock and head for the Greymare Creek. The Greymare railway station was named in 1904. Now that’s a legacy a horse can be proud of.

Festival of Small Halls returns to Greymare on Friday, 10 October 2025 with Georgia Mooney and Joe H Henry.
