Forest Hill

Forest Hill

Forest Hill lies deep in the Lockyer Valley, South East Queensland’s salad bowl – rated as one of the top 10 most fertile farming areas in the world. Narrow country roads open out into golden fields of baled hay, green shoots, or fragrant, freshly turned earth, and colourful produce is for sale in many of the driveways you’ll pass. Having stopped in at one of the two heritage listed hotels in town, drive a little further West and the Great Dividing Range casts early afternoon shadows over impossibly green fields of cattle, crops and sheep. The UQ Gatton Campus has a particularly intriguing element – a long drive edged with palms and gums that create ideas of a grand entrance to the Australian gothic plantation that never was… Sweet second hand shops, a post office/gift shop and a satisfied community give Forest Hill the dreamy atmosphere of the rural idyll.

Tickets available online and from the Forest Hill Post Office/Gallery/Cafe.
