Drayton Memorial Hall, QLD, Giabal and Jarowair Country

Drayton Memorial Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Giabal and Jarowair People.
Drayton began as a camping place at the intersection of various pastoral stations in 1842. The European settler Thomas Alford, named his house, store and post office Drayton, which then became the name of the emergent township of Drayton.
Drayton Hall is situated 300 metres from an early landmark, the Bulls Head Inn built in 1847, with the hall originally being a pioneers memorial hall built prior to WW1. The Guide Hut located next to the hall was built in memory of Korean War servicemen. Throughout the years, the Drayton Hall has been used as the Drayton Shire office, a dance hall of some note in the region and continues its community service housing the Toowoomba Municipal Band and the Caledonian Pipe Band, as well as many community organisations using the facility throughout the week.
Festival of Small Halls returns to Drayton on Wednesday, 9 October 2024 with Kellie Loder and Van Dijk & Mcdonald.
Opening the show will be local act Willow Taylor!

Willow Taylor is a singer songwriter with a unique folk-soul blend. Having grown up in Oakey, Queensland, Willow’s music is much influenced by the peaceful nature of a rural landscape and shares elements of country music’s vivid storytelling. Learning piano and guitar throughout her schooling, Willow began songwriting at 11 years old, eventually performing her songs at open mics and gigging venues across the Darling Downs.
In 2021 one of those songs, which later became her debut single “Amnesia”, won the Junior prize of UniSQ’s “Get Songwriting” Competition. She is often found around the south-east Queensland region, playing gigs and churches. She is also a part of the Christmas for the Bash team, a group of musicians and volunteers who head out west to play carols for rural communities.
Willow is currently releasing music on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube and playing gigs around the south east Queensland area, all whilst honing her musical skills at the Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium.
