Dookie, 5 April 2018

Dookie is recognised for its distinctive red hills, diverse agriculture, University of Melbourne Regional Campus and progressive community. Surrounded by the Goulburn Valley in Central Victoria, the district borders the North Eastern region.

As smaller regional towns find new ways to survive, Dookie is beginning to thrive as an emerging tourist destination. Exhibitions and festivals generate publicity and with the opening of Tallis Wine Cellar Door, boasting stunning views of the Strathbogie Ranges, the retro-styled Gladstone Hotel and popular Emporium Café, it is becoming an increasingly sought-after day trip from neighbouring centres and for people travelling along the freeways.

Population: 280

On the 5th of April Festival of Small Halls will visit Dookie Arts Hub with internationally acclaimed folk artist Dave Gunning and Australia’s Claire Anne Taylor.
