Nestled in the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges Boolarra takes its name from the Kurnai word meaning “plenty”.
Surrounded by bush and farmland this small town enjoys a strong community spirit.
The construction of the Railway in 1884 was instrumental to the development of Boolarra. Today the old railway track is enjoyed by walkers, horse riders and cyclists as it transformed into the enchanting Grandridge Rail Trail.
The Memorial Hall was built by the citizens of Boolarra and District to commemorate those who died in service in WW11 and Korea, officially opening in 1962.
The community owned hall benefits from the continuing work of the Hall Committee ensuring it remains an integral part of life in Boolarra.
On Thursday 28th March we welcome all to join us for the Festival of Small Halls tour with a magical night of fine music and friendship. You may even spot a couple who celebrated their wedding 55 years ago on that day in that very hall.
Festival of Small Halls Boolarra will feature award-winning Canadian trio The Once and Australia’s John Flanagan.
The performance will be supported by The Magentas.
Tickets available online here or locally at the Boolarra General Store or the Yinnar General Store
