Beerwah

Gubbi Gubbi people: from ‘birrawaman’, ‘birra’ – sky ‘wandum’ – climbing up

Beerwah is, as strange as it may seem, one of the best-known Australian towns around the world. While magical views to the 16 ancient volcanic crags that are the Glass House Mountains (including Mt Beerwah) and a thriving village centre give offer countless reasons to visit, it is Australia Zoo that lends it’s infamy to Beerwah. Yes, in Beerwah, crocs rule! Take Steve Irwin way right into the heart of Beerwah and you will also find a couple of impressive things – The Big Mower, which is strangely one of ‘Australia’s big things’, and a warm and thriving town in a beautiful setting.
