Baringhup Hall, VIC, Dja Dja Wurung Country
Baringhup Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurung People.
Located in the foothills of Mt Tarrengower, Baringhup Hall is good for meetings, dances, and large meals. It features a large hall space and a supper room, and is clad in tin. Managed by the community, the much loved Baringhup Hall has seen weddings, funerals and really memorable balls, with themes ranging from “Bollywood” to “Woodstock”. Baringhup is located a stone’s throw from one of Victoria’s largest dams, Cairn Curran, and the hall was built as a recreation hall for the hundreds of workers who built the dam. It was brought in parts from a RAAF base and put together by the workers – a true recycled building! Baringhup has a population of 185.
Festival of Small Halls rolls into Baringhup on Thursday, 14 March 2024 with Svavar Knútur and The Maes.
Opening the show will be local act Grim Fawkner!
Rambling man Grim Fawkner is no stranger to stages and streets across the globe and at home.
Whether he’s touring in the UK & EU, or busking around AUS & NZ, Grim’s lyrical style and inimitable guitar technique have seen him amass a solid following of listeners and creators alike.
Recent nods to his skills as a songwriter and a performer include being voted “Melbourne’s Best Busker” by The Herald Sun & popular vote, an endorsement by Cole Clark guitars, and a national tour support with country music stalwart Kasey Chambers.
He has performed on stages at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Queenscliff Music Festival, Great Southern Blues festival, Dunedin Folk Festival (NZ), Cygnet Folk Festival, Convoi de Fete (NDL), to name a few, as well as played shows with Marcus King Band (USA), The Waifs, Clare Bowditch, and many more.
