BALLAN, 4 March 2026

Ballan Neighbourhood House Mechanics Hall, VIC, Wadawurrung Country

Ballan Neighbourhood House Mechanics Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung People.

The Ballan Mechanics Institute Public Hall was built in the 1880s by the towns folk as a central community gathering space, to socialise and learn together.

Over the last century the hall has outseen many of the community!

If walls could talk! There would be many stories shared about the events that have been held in this space, from weddings, funerals, festivals, flower and art shows, dances through to CWA bake-offs!

Festival of Small Halls returns to Ballan on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 with Irish Mythen (CAN/IRE) and Kaurna Cronin (AUS).

Opening the show will be local artist Jayden Spence!
A musician rumbling from the Moorabool Shire, Jayden Spence very early on found a deep connection in music. Through many years of constant practice and an attitude of striving for perfection, they learned that the most fulfilling thing in life for them was to write their music, and spread the feeling of being interconnected emotionally, no matter how physically distant someone could be. With a blend of many genres and inspirations growing up, they developed a solo sound that when taken upon the stage, blends the emotional sound of midwest emo, the storytelling of folk music, and the fun pop-rocky attitude of acts such as Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls, to create a unique but familiar identity and bring forth a spirit of having a good time while defining what it really means to be human.
