Badgingarra Community Centre, WA, Yued Country

Badgingarra Community Centre stands on the traditional lands of the Yued People.

The Badgingarra Community Centre had a former life as the PCYC (Police & Citizens Youth Club) in South Fremantle from 1958 to 1978. Due to a road realignment, the hall had to be demolished. Badgingarra had been gazetted in 1955 and a small settlement built. The town was shifted 7 km west in 1972 when the Brand Highway was built. The new town needed a new community centre so the enterprising local farmers took their trucks to Fremantle , demolished the hall and bought it back to Badgingarra where it was rebuilt and opened as the Community Centre in 1978. Many of these people are still active in the community today.

Festival of Small Halls rolls into Badgingarra on Wednesday, 7 August 2024 with Jed Parsons (NZ) and Alana Wilkinson (AUS).

Opening the show will be local act Sophie Maddock!

Originally hailing from Sydney, Sophie’s performing background started in professional music theatre 10 years ago where she performed in various shows such as Wicked, Kinky Boots and Avenue Q.

She is now playing her best role yet, pretending to know what she is doing in the sheep yards. Swapping glitter and bright lights for dust, she now calls Badgingarra home and is loving raising her kids on the farm with her husband.

Sophie is delighted to perform at the Festival of Small Halls and cannot wait to share her love of live music with the community.
