Avenel, 20 March 2024

Avenel Memorial Hall , VIC, Taungurung Country

Avenel Memorial Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Taungurung People.

Avenel’s War Memorial Hall is in the centre of the township and stands as a timeless gathering place.  Erected in 1963 the hall provides space for activities that fully engages the community.  From hosting craft classes to symphony quartets, musical comedians and films, the hall also hosts wakes through to passive yoga sessions.

It is regularly used for theatre presentations and concerts especially performed by the local primary school children and there are often piano students developing their performance skills on the Yamaha grand piano. The War Memorial Hall mirrors the vibrant tapestry of Avenel’s community life.

Festival of Small Halls rolls into Avenel on Wednesday, 20 March 2024 with Svavar Knútur and The Maes.
