Apsley, 18 March 2022

Apsley Town Hall, VIC, Wotjobaluk Country

Apsley Town Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Wotjobaluk People.

Unassuming Aspley Hall looks much the same as any other cream brick hall built in regional Australia in the 1960s, but it this hall’s walls could talk! Aspley Hall has played host to everyone from burly sheep farmers belting out Gilbert and Sullivan show tunes to local bands performing at debutante balls and weddings. The hall has also been the headquarters for the sewing club, bowls and local markets – you name it, this place has done it! Community spirit runs strong in Aspley; when the town’s pub looked all but set to close, a group of local farmers chipped in to get it going again, and the hall is held in similar esteem. Locals like to get out about, socialise and be entertained, making it an ideal location for a stop on the Festival of Small Halls tour.

Festival of Small Halls rolls into Apsley on Friday, 18 March 2022 with Jack Carty and Charm of Finches.
