Panninher People Longford

“Longford Town Hall
Thursday 21 January, 7:00pm

Against the silhouette of the Great Western Tiers to the west and the Ben Lomond Mountain to the east, at the meeting of two rivers, sits the Georgian Village of Longford.

Folk Music first came to Longford with The Bottom Pub Ceilidh Band in 1975, and was so popular that a Tasmanian Folk Festival was held every summer from 1977 – 86. The Folk Festival attracted big name bands including Steeleye Span, Pentangle, and Judy Small.

Longford hosts many festivals throughout the year. We celebrate harvest, gardens, roses, vintage cars, rock ‘n’ roll, a country show, murder mysteries, antiques fair, artist exhibitions, horseracing, and motor racing. We are home to World Heritage convict built sites, Woolmers and Brickendon Estates, both offering an intriguing insight into our convict stories.

Longford’s typically English landscape, historic streetscape, parklands, churches, and the South Esk and Macquarie rivers are a wonderful backdrop to our specialty shops, sensational dining experiences, heritage B&Bs, and exciting arts and crafts culture. Enjoy self guided walks around the town, graveyard, and along the riverbank. Play Skulduggery and unlock your inner super sleuth and solve a crime! We enjoy a relaxed country lifestyle whilst being only 20 minutes from the city. The morning and evening light is magic, and our night skies are spectacular.
